Feedback from LIOLA 2018 & 2019 participants
"LIOLA gave me insight into my own strengths and skills, and the confidence to further develop and use those strengths in my decision-making. I use the strategies I learned to plan my personal and professional goals, and I have felt more confident in managing my team of students, and building on their strengths as well."
“As with so many OLA events, the networking I gained from LIOLA was INVALUABLE. Knowing, valuing and reaffirming that there are other folks out there in “Libraryland” who have experienced what you are going through and are willing to hear you out, give some advice and support you in your choices is part of what made the LIOLA so valuable. Having mentors assigned to us who were part of our working group during the LIOLA has been a gift as well. We had an opportunity to get to know these proven leaders in our state and now we can call on them in our “hour of need” for insight and direction.”
“LIOLA was a great experience. Over the years I had heard so much about leadership from my personal mentors but had a few pieces missing. Attending LIOLA helped to pull everything together, to broaden my understanding of what a true leader is and how to implement leadership characteristics into my work instead of just managing the everyday aspects. It’s an experience everyone should have.”
"I found this leadership institute very informative-- both professionally and personally. This helped me figure out the nuances in how I function and how my colleagues function. If you can, I highly recommend making time to network both at the trainings and after hours."
"It was great to have a mentor to write out some SMART goals."
