Welcome to the Oregon Authors Committee and the Oregon Authors Project
The Oregon Authors Project aims to provide access to information and resources about authors who call or have called Oregon their home. This resource promotes and highlights their work, as well as provides important snapshots into the literary history of Oregon. It is maintained by the Oregon Authors Committee, a standing committee of the Oregon Library Association whose charge is to collect and preserve bibliographic information about Oregon authors.
The Oregon Authors Project has undergone several name changes and iterations over the years. Its earliest ancestor was a simple list of books printed in the 1933/34 edition of the Oregon Blue Book. In 2008, the Oregon Authors Information Clearinghouse transitioned from an annual print publication to an internet blog, and later evolved into the online Oregon Authors Project database in 2021.
The number of authors continues to grow significantly each year. Independent publishers and book illustrators have recently been incorporated into the project. Users can search or browse information through a variety of ways such as genre, audience, awards, location, and by those who identify with BIPOC and LGBTQAI+ communities.
All content within the Oregon Authors Project is freely available, and anyone can suggest new authors, illustrators, or publications by filling out a brief form. For comments or questions about the Oregon Authors Project, please contact John Repplinger, the committee chair at [email protected].
