Library Instruction Round Table (LIRT)

LIRT was formed to "promote library instruction as a means to empower library users to become life-long learners; to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and materials; to foster continuing educational opportunities; and to promote cooperation and fellowship among OLA members engaged in library instruction."

Membership:

Membership in Round Tables shall be opened to any OLA member interested in the objectives of the round table.

How to Join:

• Join OLA or renew your OLA membership and add LIRT as an affiliation
• LIRT annual dues are $5.00

Benefits:

• Join a network of colleagues from around the state -- from all different kinds of libraries -- who are passionate about library instruction
• Share and receive related news, ideas, and materials via the LIRT list-serv
• Help sponsor library instruction-related programs at the OLA Annual Conference
• Help sponsor the annual IL Summit conference

Annual Events:

Annual Meeting:  Each Round Table shall hold at least one meeting annually.

• Most recent annual meeting held on Friday April 21, 2017, 7:30am - 8:30am, at the OLA 2017 Conference.

IL Summit:  LIRT co-sponsors the Information Literacy Summit, by ILAGO (Information Literacy Advisory Group of Oregon). 

• The most recent IL Summit was held on May 12, 2018 at the Yamhill Valley Campus of Chemeketa Community College - McMinnville, Oregon.

Governance:

Chair:  Elected annually. Term of office 1 year or until a successor is elected or appointed. Also serves as OLA-LIRT Liaison on the ILAGO board.

Vice-Chair:  Appointed by the Chair and approved by the membership, or elected by the membership.

Vacancies:  In the case of a vacancy in the office of Chair, a special election shall be held to fill the position. In the case of a vacancy in the office of Vice-Chair, the Chair shall appoint a new individual to the office to be approved by the membership. In the case that there are no nominations for the special election to fill the Chair position, the OLA Executive Board may appoint a new Chair.
